About

Our clients understand that individually-held fixed income securities can help provide a measurable reduction of risk over an investment in bond mutual funds. We specialize in managing fixed income portfolios, tailored specifically to each client.
FOUNDER OF CROSSROADS FINANCIAL SOLUTIONS, llc

alan Lyon

Alan Lyon is a financial services professional in Indianapolis. For the past 22 years he has specialized in several aspects of financial planning including retirement income strategies, investments, insurance, and estate planning.  Alan founded Crossroads Financial Solutions, LLC to specifically focus on helping to maximize retirement income for his clients. He is a Series 65-licensed Investment Advisor Representative and fiduciary with Sound Income Strategies LLC, an SEC Registered Investment Advisory Firm located in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Alan loves what he does. He believes that he has the best career possible. What could be better than helping people retire well? Alan began his financial services career in 1999. He was recognized as a President’s Council Award winner for his commitment to total client care each year from 2002 to 2011. His clients recognize Alan’s passion and concern for their financial well-being. Alan went independent in 2011. That transition enabled him to offer an even wider range of financial planning services to his clients. His philosophy is that safety always comes first for retirees and those who are soon-to-be. Once lifetime income is more secure, then a market-based approach can be used for wealth management. Roller coasters are fun when you are young… they are hardly appropriate for a retiree’s finances. Sadly, Alan has met too many retirees that lost most of their assets during the downturns of 2001 and 2008. He spent years briefing senior military officers, many times telling them what they did not want to hear. In the same way, he is not afraid to tell his clients the truth. He believes too many other advisors paint rosy pictures when markets are soaring, but do not have any answers for helping to protect their clients during the inevitable market downturns.

Alan’s background as an officer in the United States Air Force prepared him for his financial career. He began his Air Force career as a launch officer with the Minuteman Strategic Nuclear Missile System – where he became Officer-in-Charge of 50 strategic nuclear missiles and all related missile and maintenance crews.  He was one of only two officers at that base to receive five Highly Qualified ratings during the same four-year tour of duty. His next assignment was overseas as base Cost & Management Analysis officer – the senior cost analyst for all base organizations. He came back to the states in the same position at the lead B-1B base. He then moved over to become the base Budget Officer – overseeing all B-1B and tenant organization’s budgets.  Alan’s final assignment came when the new wing commander selected him to become his Chief of Public Affairs. He was the spokesperson to the public for all base organizations. Alan was on TV and quoted in newspapers often, and he spoke regularly to civic groups.  Alan left the Air Force a year later to begin his new career.
